Hydrosols
Hydrosols, also known as flower waters, are the aromatic waters left behind after the steam distillation process used to extract essential oils from plants. They contain water-soluble compounds from the plant and are typically gentler and less concentrated than essential oils. Common examples include rose water, lavender hydrosol, and chamomile hydrosol.
Fun Fact:
Rose water is known for its soothing properties and has been used for centuries in traditional medicine for skin hydration and mood enhancement.
